Charlie Sheen May Serve Jail Time in Plea Deal

What it boils down to is this (as always, quoted for exact text – see link above for full article):

OPTION 1:  Charlie will plead guilty to a misdemeanor and serve 30 days in Aspen jail.  Charlie could enter the plea as early as June 7 in Aspen and would then immediately begin serving his time.  With good behavior, that time could be whittled down to 17 days.  After he serves his sentence, the case would be over.  Charlie would not be placed on probation.

OPTION 2:  Charlie would plead guilty to a misdemeanor and receive no jail time, but would be placed on 2 years probation.  We’re told Charlie’s people worry that the actor might slip up and the judge could then throw the book at him and Charlie would end up in jail for a much longer period than 30 days.

OPTION 3:  Charlie would receive a “deferred prosecution” — meaning the case would not go forward but Charlie would agree to various conditions — including not breaking the law.  After a certain period of time — if Charlie complies with the conditions — the matter would be expunged from his record.

OPTION 4:  Go to trial and fight it.  Charlie, we’re told, is upset at the Tito Ortiz case … where the UFC star did not even get prosecuted for allegedly doing a lot worse than Charlie allegedly did.

Now, if it had been any Joe Schmoe off the street, this would already be a done deal.  However, celebs being what they are, this crap has to drag on and on, ad infinitum.

Personally?  Option 1 is likely his *safest* bet.  In, out, done.  Probation means if he so much as JAYWALKS, he’s in the clink.  Deferred prosecution is only slightly better than probation, as it still gives the possibility of, as mentioned before, getting caught jaywalking.  If he goes to trial, he’s either stupid or foolhardy.

IMNSHO, anyway.

Jail for couple whose baby died while they raised online child

Ok, so -the gist of the story:

Couple in Korea are playing an online game (Prius Online), where you raise a girl who gains magical powers as she grows.  They neglect their OWN 3-month old child, who dies as a result of the neglect.

Prosecutors sought five-year sentences for both parents, but the judge lowerd it to two-years.  And the sentence for the mother was SUSPENDED because, get this, SHE’S PREGNANT AGAIN.

A child DIED – and they aren’t even given proper sentencing.  What the hell is WRONG with people?

I believe in the fact that if you take a life, you don’t get to keep YOURS.

Don’t blame the game.  Blame the asshats who get stupid over them.

N. Korea severing all ties with S. Korea

What in the name of Anubis‘ pinky toe are we doing mucking around in this?

South Korea has the US backing it.  North Korea has China backing it.

Do the math.

Get the hell out of it and let them deal with it themselves.

Six Flags Turns Away Inked Customer

A mother of three, Samantha Osborn, was told by one Six Flags employee that she had to cover her tattoos or leave the park.  Another employee later allowed her entrance.

As a side note, she has two six-shooters on her collarbone, with yellow roses around the guns.  Her husband, who has more tattoos, was not told HIS were inappropriate.

Per the article, the employee who told her that the tats were offensive likened them to the swastika.

I hope to see that employee looking for new employment soon.

Texas ready for textbook showdown

Between adding that our “founding fathers” were guided by “Christian principles”, minimizing Thomas Jefferson’s impact because he believed in separation of church and state, and renaming the slave trade to, of all things, “the Atlantic triangular trade”, I seriously hope our lawmakers remove their heads from their collective asses soon.

Someone needs a check-up from the neck up.

And the following had me laughing myself to tears.

Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, says the Texas changes are historically inaccurate and dismissive of the contributions of minorities.

“While some Texas politicians may want to set their educational standards back 50 years, California should not be subject to their backward curriculum changes,” Yee said.

However, I would like to point out the following, copied from Ministry of Truth (wiki link):

Role in information
The Ministry of Truth is involved with news media, entertainment, the fine arts and educational books. Its purpose is to rewrite history and change the facts to fit Party doctrine for propaganda effect. For example, if Big Brother makes a prediction that turns out to be wrong, the employees of the Ministry of Truth go back and rewrite the prediction so that any prediction Big Brother previously made is accurate. This is the “how” of the Ministry of Truth’s existence. Within the novel Orwell elaborates that the deeper reason for its existence is to maintain the illusion that the Party is absolute. It cannot ever seem to change its mind (if, for instance, they perform one of their constant changes regarding enemies during war) or make a mistake (firing an official or making a grossly misjudged supply prediction), for that would imply weakness and to maintain power the Party must seem eternally right and strong.

Metal legend Ronnie James Dio dead at 67

You may not know him by name, but he’s the singer who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath back in 1979, and went on to start both Heaven & Hell and Dio.

Ward off the Evil Eye

No, it’s NOT a symbol of or for the devil.  This sign has been used since at least ancient Rome to ward off (or give, depending on the position) the Evil Eye.

Emergency Care Fast — Or It’s Free

Reminds me of the old pizza commericals…delivery in 30min or no charge.

Per the article (and billboards for the Emerus 24 Hour Emergency Room on Highway 380 in Aubrey):

Visits to one Denton County emergency room are free if you don’t see a doctor in 15 minutes or less.

I’d like to challenge ALL hospital ER’s to come even CLOSE to offering what Emerus is successfully doing.

Having played Prince of Persia since it’s original release in 1989, I can tell you that knowing this is going to be a movie does things to me that I can’t even comment on.

Think back to the exchange between Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin in The Lion King:

Banzai: Oh, Scar, it’s just you.
Shenzi: We were afraid it was somebody important.
Banzai: Yeah, you know, like Mufasa.
Scar: I see.
Banzai: Now that’s power.
Shenzi: Tell me about it. I just hear that name and I shudder.
Banzai: Mufasa!
Shenzi: Ooooh! Do it again!
Banzai: Mufasa!
Shenzi: Ooooh!
Banzai: Mufasa, Mufasa, Mufasa!
Shenzi: Ooooh!
[breaks into laughter]
Shenzi: And it tingles me!

Yup.  I went there.

So – for your viewing pleasure, I present to you the movie trailer and a short video on the martial art “Parkour”, which is what the lead actor, Jake Gyllenhaal, used to train.

The Prince of Persia movie trailer:

And a video on what Parkour is:
