This story is so funny, it bears reposting. I’m not sure who made the *original* post, and I’m not sure where it was *originally* posted, but The Irritable Wolf reposted it recently, and it’s so damn funny – I’m doing the same!

The story is quite long, so please hit the “read more” link for the laugh-fest!

Oklahoma Senate overrides governor’s vetoes to pass abortion laws

One law requires ultrasound, listening to description of what it shows before an abortion.

Per Democratic Gov. Brad Henry:

“State policymakers should never mandate that a citizen be forced to undergo any medical procedure against his or her will, especially when such a procedure could cause physical or mental trauma,” Henry said. “To do so amounts to an unconstitutional invasion of privacy.”

He said one of the flaws of the ultrasound bill is that it lacks an exemption for rape and incest victims.

Other law protects doctors who withhold data or give inaccurate information about pregnancies.

Again, per Democratic Gov. Brad Henry:

Henry, in opposing the bill, said it would be “unconscionable to grant a physician legal protection to mislead or misinform a pregnant woman in an effort to impose his or her personal beliefs on his patient.”

Get the hell out of my life, my womb and my doctors’ office.  Unless you have suddenly taken up residence in my body, you have no right to tell me what I can and cannot do with my own body.

Furor grows over Ariz. law against immigrants

…often are the most guilty.

Seriously, folks, if you have nothing to hide, then this is no big deal.  If I go out of the country, I have to carry papers of identification and such.  If I get pulled over, I have to provide identification and legal documentation.

If you’re innocent, you’ve nothing to fear.

Theoretically.

At least 7 dead in Mississippi tornado

My thoughts are with those affected by the twister.  I hope order is restored and folks are safe, soon.

However…

The state has also activated a 25-person rapid response team from Hattiesburg that is capable of search and rescue operations.

I’m going to hell.  I just know it.

Utah man chooses firing squad for execution

I’m torn between “yay! a killer FINALLY pays for his actions!” and “wow..firing squad…that takes balls”.

Lethal injection is such a pansy-ass way out.  Those on death row, having been deemed guilty of murder or other heinous acts, usually want the easy way out.  And those supporting them feel electrocution, hanging or firing squad is “inhumane”.

Inhumane, my ass.  They took a life.  They don’t deserve to keep theirs.  Nor do they deserve a peaceful exit.

Oh, and the person/crime involved: Ronnie Lee Gardner, convicted of murder in the 1985 killing of an attorney during a courthouse escape attempt.

Is the Earth striking back?

As it does, a volcano awakens in Iceland (with another, larger and adjacent to still-erupting Eyjafjallajokull, threatening to detonate next). The Earth shudders in Haiti. Then Chile. Then western China. Mexicali-Calexico. The Solomon Islands. Spain. New Guinea. And those are just the big ones, 6+ on the Richter scale, and just in 2010. And it’s only April.

The article as a whole goes into the greenhouse effect increasing the heat retention causing the glaciers to melt, which lightens the load on the Earth’s crust allowing the plates to stretch their legs and start a dance party.

Interesting.

We are fleas on the back of a dog.  Before too long, will the dog shake itself to be rid of the fleas?  Or perhaps, it already is.

In tech world, porn leads the way

Well, DUH.  The internet (and new computer systems) is FOR porn.  Sheesh.

While I have the above video as a favorite, the next one had me falling out of my chair.

Blagojevich defense team seeks to subpoena Obama

The 10-page motion contends that Obama must have information in the case because the charges against Blagojevich involve alleged deal-making to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Obama when he became president.

Hrm.

In addition, the motion says that Tony Rezko, a political fundraiser convicted of fraud charges who has links to Obama, is a government witness in the case and that Obama can offer testimony about him.

Double hrm.

And yes, I had a witty title and comment all lined up..but I don’t want to end up on a list.  Or something.

Get ready for some big Facebook changes

Among the list of things expected to be announced:

  • it will start providing users’ personal information to some select third-party Web sites
  • “like” buttons will start to show up across the Internet, enabling users to share items with friends when they’re not physically on facebook
  • real-time search on third-party search sites, similar to Twitter’s service
  • users’ public posts will be available for search on sites like Google and Bing

Much as I’m not a fan of some of the proposed changes, let’s be serious.  Our personal information is already out there, being tweaked and massaged by those mysterious “third-party” companies/websites/people.

If you think this is news, please feel free to crawl back under your rock.
