Alleged father (of infant found dead at fire station) arrested

What is worse?  The death of an infant, the abandonment of said infant, or the state agency listed as a safe haven ignoring the call for help, resulting in – you guessed it – the death…of said infant.

By their own admission (please read the news article but the quote is available after the jump), the fire department did NOT answer the doorbell when it was rung when the child was LEFT there.  They don’t answer if they can’t see someone at the door.

How many times have you, or someone you’ve known, had a child or short adult ring your door?  Ever had someone leave a package on the doorstep, ring and leave?  If you’ve ever had UPS or FedEx, that’s a yes.  What about flowers or candies left at the step by some attempting-to-be-thoughtful significant other?

Alright.  Not the same as a fire department.  I’ll grant you that.  I’m not in the business of saving lives.
