Been in a George A. Romero mood for the last day or so.  I will forever love the original 1698 Night of the Living Dead, but I have to admit that the 1990 remake of it is pretty damn good, too.

However, that silly bitch that screams so much?  I believe I might have fed her to the ghouls.

Be useful.  Be silent.  Get stuff done.  Reload.

Rinse.  Repeat.

Oh, and by the way..

They’re coming to get you, Barbara!

Oh my sweet Gnomish g-ds, please let this happen.  I promise if you give us Jackson for ‘The Hobbit, I’ll give up skydiving, parasailing AND bungee jumping.

The only thing more potent to induce nerdgasms is Diablo III.

Ok, so I’ve not been feeling well lately.  This leads to me spending more time horizontal than vertical, which means a lot more movies than usual.

I’ve never dropped acid but I imagine that if I had, THIS is what my trip would be like.  The movie is somewhat bouncy, going from live-action to cgi and back, sometimes so fast that you almost get whiplash.  I’ve not made up my mind as to whether I like the movie or not, but it’s worth a look-see.

Quite possibly Heath Ledger’s best role.  While I’ve no doubt that Jack Nicholson *could* have made the role much better than he did, I believe Ledger really took the definition of “The Joker” and ran so far into madness with it that madness itself turned tail and ran in fear.

There are a lot of things that can be said for this movie, and Bale’s gutteral Batman notwithstanding, it does *fit* the winged one, and while I dislike him in general, he does make an excellent Bruce Wayne *AND* Batman.  Michael Keaton was great, and I’d have to say that, with this movie, Bale is giving Keaton a run for his money.

Sir Michael Caine is, as always, lovely to see in any movie.  While I miss Michael Gough, Caine does put forth one hell of an effort.  The always dapper butler, caretaker and family member is at once serious, joking, and caring.  And, not surprisingly, Caine carries it perfectly.

It’s definitely worth seeing.  Several times.

So, the movie was rather excellent.  I was forced to admit that, while I still don’t care for Christian Bale on a personal level, he does quite well as both millionare goober Bruce Wayne and vigilante-cum-hero Batman.  He makes the transition well, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed his role.  No previous Batman/Bruce Wayne actor has, in my opinion, been able to succeed at BOTH roles simultaneously.  Sir Michael Caine is, as always, wonderfully droll and perfect.  Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent / Two-Face was fantastic.  Without giving too much away, I’ll simply say that watching Harvey Dent’s descent into Two-Face’s reality was stunning.  Tommy Lee JOnes, I adore you, but Eckhart’s got you beat.  Heath Ledger was, in a word, amazing.  I honestly had doubts about him, as I’ve enjoyed his more light-hearted rompings and didn’t care for his forays into serious roles.  This, however, was quite literally his crowning achievement.  This role was made for him, and he certainly took ownership and pride in it.

Let’s see.  For the next installment of deliciousness..

Mister Reese for the Riddler?  After all, he was the weasel who was going to betray Batman to the world.

Catwoman?  Alfred does comment that the suit can withstand cats.

Leave us not forget Two-Face.  The man didn’t die.  Gotham may believe *Harvey Dent* is gone, but we all know that Two-Face is a force to be reckoned with.

The Joker mentions his wife.  Perhaps a showing from Harley Quinn?  Yes, I know she wasn’t introduced until “Batman: The Animated Series”, but she was a doctor, a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum who fell in love with the Joker.  He was going to do a mind-fuck on her, as a joke on her name, but came to care for her.

And I reiterate my comment in the theatre:  I want that damn batmobile!
